Why Talented Lawyers
Don't Originate
— And What Actually Fixes It
Business development training that builds BigLaw attorneys a book of their own, putting them in charge of their careers.
“Excellent, well-informed speaker.” - Mickee H.
What This Costs You Right Now
Male partners average $3.9M in originations. Female partners average $2.4M (Source: Major, Lindsey & Africa 2024 Compensation Study). Firms know the gap in originations is more complicated than gender alone.
Gaps like the $1.5M cited above compound every year that the firm hopes for a different result without building a clear strategy.
Your firm is already paying for it:
BD: Aggregate Revenue
Lawyers who originate below their capability represent untapped potential sitting right within BD’s reach.
Talent & Retention
Whether in recruiting or in exit interviews, your lawyers want to win, but they don’t always see a path forward.
Finance
Turnover costs you a small fortune. Losing a partner with a book costs far more than the training that would have kept them at the firm.
This is not adding a new program; it is addressing a problem that costs you money every day.
What Firms Hire Rachel For
• Strengthening counsel → partner readiness
• Teaching origination as a specific, learnable skillset (not general advice)
• Supporting high-potential women and lawyers from outside the majority
• Improving retention where mentorship alone hasn't moved the numbers
Why Talented Lawyers
Don't Originate
— And What Actually Fixes It
Standard BD training and mentorship programs give general advice that works for some, but it doesn't teach origination as a specific, learnable skillset.
That gap is what stalls smart, capable lawyers after years of doing everything right.
What Becomes Clear:
Why what makes your lawyers unique can win them business; it is not a liability
Why the room that they have the easiest path in might still be a colossal waste of their scant time
Why making clear, powerful asks earns trust - and work
Why protecting their focus and energy is imperative if they want to advance - and stay
Why standard BD training has a blind spot and lawyers need resources built to close the specific gap they are in
Formats Offered:
• Keynotes
• Virtual workshops
• Cohort-based programs
• Support for business and talent-development programs
Optional: Add-on coaching for rising counsel or partners
Hi, I’m Rachel.
I teach BigLaw women how to build a 7+ figure book and take charge of her career, without relying on her firm.
My path has taken me from labor lawyer to real estate developer, ranging from 30 to 600 units and eventually building a $70MM neighborhood, to now, business founder.
I help lawyers identify their unique niche, network to find their clients efficiently, make asks that give them energy, and learn how to focus their time on their highest and most valuable contribution.
